I love my job!

What an amazing group of students God has blessed us with this year at FBCS!

PK students are working hard on their "Color Books".  They were visited this week by Mr. Mac the RED Bear, who brought a RED suitcase full of his favorite RED things.  The student's enjoyed RED Kool-Aid (Mr. Mac's favorite drink) and painted red cherries with RED Kool-Aid Scratch & Sniff watercolor paint.

Kool-Aid Paint Recipe
1 Tbs unsweetened Kool-Aid drink mix
(Mr. Mac the RED Bear's favorite flavor is cherry.)
1 Tbs warm water
Q-tip

Mix water and unsweetened Kool-Aid drink mix together in a small bowl.  Use a Q-tip to dip in the "paint" and use as a brush for your picture.  Allow the finished work to dry overnight.  Scratch and sniff your picture the next day to smell the Kool-aid flavor.

Kindergarten created the last of their "thumb print" people this week.  Can you guess what each thumb print person is doing?

I'm riding my bike!

I've got the ball!  You're out!

Watch me!  I can dive!

1st grade through 5th finished their "Clay Pendants" this week.  They turned out beautiful!

1st through 5th are beginning their "pet portraits".  Don't forget to bring in your photos!

6th - 8th graders continue to paint their  "Visual Journals".  I can't wait for them to add the pages on the inside!

Fabulous ARTwork by FBCS students this week!

Thank you for all the returned info sheets.  If you have not returned yours make sure it is on my desk this week!  Also I am collecting metal Altoids containers.  If you have any please send them in.

PK students started a color unit.  Each week we will study a new color and create a new page for our "color booklet".  This week they learned about the color blue and finger painted "blue fish".

VPK had their first week of Art.  They played the "Color Wheel Game" and we began our study on the primary colors.

Kindergarten began a study of artist Edgar Degas and his love to paint people in motion.  We started working on our own people in motion, "Thumb Print People".  Ask your students if they remember Mr. Degas' favorite thing to paint.

First through fifth grade are continuing to work on their "clay pendants".  After forming a shape with Crayola Air Dry clay (http://www.amazon.com/Crayola-Air-Clay-Bucket-White/dp/B000J07LF8), students inserted a paperclip.  Next, they used stamps to add designs and texture.  After drying, they began painting their creations.

After cutting and shaping their cardboard covers, sixth through eighth graders began painting the covers of their "visual journals".
