ANGELS Heather Galler style

First through Fifth graders created Angel collages in Heather Galler style.  Heather Galler is a professional abstract modern folk artist from NY. She is an award winning painter specializing in Pet Portraits, Frida Kahlo, Mermaids, Landscapes, Flowers, Birds and Angels.  You can view her artwork at http://www.findfolkart.com.

Students started with a piece of cardboard.  They covered the cardboard by glueing small pieces of newspaper on it and they painted it with watercolor.  Students made a face for their angel from a piece of white construction paper and were allowed to visit the "collage table".  The table was filled with material, felt, colored and decorative paper, ribbon, lace, old jewelry, feathers, etc.  After collecting, students cut, glued, and created their beautiful angel collages.
