Your students are working hard and having fun!
PK students played the "color wheel" game.
In addition, they played with "color surprise play dough". I found this project on the "Teach Preschool" website. I made white play dough and formed it into small balls. I poked a hole in each ball and added tempera paint and covered the hole up with more play dough. As the students played with the play dough ball, little specks of color appeared.
Play dough Recipe
3 cups flour
1.5 cups salt
6 tsp. cream of tarter
3 tbsp. oil
3 cups water
Pour all ingredients into a large pot. Stir constantly over
medium heat until a dough ball forms by pulling away from the sides. Knead
dough until the texture matches play dough (1-2 minutes). Store in plastic
container. Should last for at least 3 months.
Kindergarten through 5th grade created "self portrait ID cards" the first week of school. Each student was given a card with their name written on it. They were instructed to draw a picture of themselves on the card. These are hanging in the classroom if you would like to stop by and see them.
6th - 8th grade began working on their "visual journals". Students chose cardboard, cut, and began painting the covers for their journals.
I also added a new link for displaying your child's artwork under the "Tips for Parents" tab.
